A KTM 18-inch rear wheel for sale uses a tire with a taller sidewall than a 19-inch wheel, assuming the same overall rolling diameter. That extra sidewall flex absorbs impacts. Rocks, roots, and square-edged bumps get smoothed out before the force reaches the rim. For technical trail riding and hard enduro, the 18-inch wheel keeps the tire planted on uneven surfaces. The bike tracks straighter through rock gardens because the tire conforms to the terrain rather than bouncing off it.
